Laptop Connection to TAMDAR
Physical Connection to TAMDAR
- Laptop with either Hyperterminal or TAMDAR Data Manager program installed.
- RS-232 serial data cable (and USB to RS-232 cable if laptop does not have serial port). No null modem.
- TAMDAR switch set to 'PC' mode.
Software Connection to TAMDAR
Hyperterminal Connection
- Open either the Hyperterminal and set the baud rate to 9600, all other properties to default.
- Turn on TAMDAR.
- TAMDAR will transmit 'AX' until either it has achieved satellite lock or timed out.
- If the TAMDAR has achieved a satellite lock, it will continue to transmit various codes to the satellite. Otherwise it will do nothing.
TAMDAR Data Manager Connection
- Open the TAMDAR Data Manager program and click the 'serial comm' tab.
- Turn on TAMDAR.
- TAMDAR will transmit 'AX' until either it has achieved satellite lock or timed out.
- If the TAMDAR has achieved a satellite lock, it will continue to transmit various codes to the satellite. Otherwise it will do nothing.
- If you want to force an observation from the TAMDAR, go to 'Calibration' tab, then click on the 'Read All from TAMDAR' button.
