Set Temperature for Nevzorov Probe

Overview

The Nevzorov probe can be set to three different temperature settings (70.0 C, 90.0 C, and 110.0 C). The higher the temperature the probe is set to, the higher water content the probe can measure before the probe becomes saturated. The 70.0 C setting is used for ground testing.

Sensor Head Calibration

Each sensor head for the Nevzorov probe comes pre-calibrated with a calibration data sheet showing the results of the calibration. The physical dimensions of the total water content (TWC) sensor and the liquid water content (LWC) sensor are given along with calibrated resistances across the sensors (Rcol and Rref) and the ratios of Rcol and Rref over the resistances across part of the electronics, Ncol and Nref, respectively. Ncol and Nref are the values set on the control box.

The control box has input for only three digits, so the calibrated values for Ncol and Nref must be rounded to three significant digits. For example, if the calibrated value of Ncol is 2.359, then the value set on the control box would be 236. There are values of Ncol and Nref for both the LWC and TWC sensors.
