IDV

The Integrated Data Viewer(IDV) is used for displaying any meteorological data on a geographic map.The user can also overlay geographic locations like towns, county lines, etc.

To run the program:

1. Open IDV from the Applications tab on Linux

2. Go to the Dashboard window that appears

3. Click on the tab Data Choosers find the data that you need

          Example:
               1.For Radar data you click on radar on the left hand side menu
               2.You can choose from NEXRAD- Remote, NEXRAD local, or ADDE Level III
               3.Once you find the radar you are looking for click add source
               4. Find the field that you are wanting to display ( ex. Reflectivity, Radial Velocity, 
                  Spectrum  Width) and click create display for the radar image to 
                  appear in the screen named Unidata IDV

4. If you want to change the elevation angle on your radar image you can click on the tab Displays in the Dashboard and change it from .5 to 4.5. You can also change your color table and texture quality in this section.

5. If you want to overlay this image in Google Earth you can click on View and Capture image and save it as a .kmz file
