Department IT Network Equipment Policy

Since equipment that is attached to the Atmospheric Sciences network can adversely affect network performance and disrupt the network for other users, the Atmospheric Sciences Faculty approved the following policy on September 15, 2009.

All new equipment that will be on the Atmospheric Sciences network has to go through the following process.

  1. All members of the IT committee (David, Gretchen, Mark) need to be informed on details of what the equipment is and where it will be located before the equipment is purchased.
  2. SCC has to approve the equipment and how it will be managed before the equipment is purchased.

Typically, email notification should be used to inform the IT committee and request SCC approval.
