atmos:northpolradar:using_skyvector_to_direct_citation

The point of this page is to show how to use SkyVector to get the Range/Bearing from different VORs to a desired latitude/longitude. This is useful when Radar operators need to navigate the Citation aircraft to points of interest (without actually having to program in every airport and VOR into IRIS).

SkyVector

-Right-click your starting airport » click the “PLAN” button next to the airport or airport identifier. A flight plan box should appear in the top left.

-In the space under “Enter waypoints separated by spaces”, you can type in the lat/lon coordinate you wish to get the range/bearing to from your starting airport. The lat/lon can be entered in any of the following ways:

* 47.5054,-91.6809
* 47.5054/-91.6809
* n47d56m35w91d35m12
* 344309N/0764157W (NOTAM style)

Where n(N) designates North, d = degrees, m = minutes, w(W) designates West. Make sure to NOT included spaces in you lat/lon coordinates even though it says to do so.

-Click 'Add' and it will show you the range/bearing from your starting point to your coordinates.
