Sikorsky

After the L3Com project the TDL instrument was found to have a leak. The leak was fixed and a new calibration for the instrument obtained that was to be applied in the Citation data processing and not in the TDL instrument itself.

On the several of the Sikorsky flights the TDL dewpoint temperature was high compared to the temperature when in cloud.

Checked the TDL system for leaks on January 22, 2005. Some pressure loss but not really a lot so system leak is probably not the problem.

Checked the TDL unirparm.dat file on January 24, 2005 and the TDL instrument calibration constant were set to intercept of 0 and slope of 1.

The calculation of the TDL chamber pressure based on the static pressure may be incorrect and result in the problem. Will do a static pressure check using the February 23, 2005 flight data.

Cause

The calculation of the TDL was determined to be bad since it was done when the TDL had a leak.

Solution

Perform a new calibration. A new calibration on the TDL was done after the Sikorsky II field project during the Spring of 2005.
