5 Port Gust Probe on Nose of the Citation Aircraft

  • Description: Flow Angle Sensor
  • Manafacturer: Rosemount Aerospace
  • Model Number: 858AJ
  • Measurement: Differential pressure transducers measure the alpha (attach), beta (sideslip), and pitot pressure (indiated air speed).
  • Notes: Additional information is avaiable in the GustProbe_858FlowAngleSensor.pdf file

Instrument Log

October, 2012

  • Rewired the transducer box and new grounding to eliminate noise. Removed nichrome wire from pitot tube and installed heat tape over entire length to prevent freezing.

September 26, 20112

  • Removed the transducer box from the nose so David can test it in the CH423 lab (for noise level) with the other A/D board.

October 1, 2010

  • Performed leak test on the nose bloom lines. Found leak in the Pitot Static line, were heating wire enter the line inside compartment and another leak in tip where grounding line connects.

September 30, 2010

  • Blow water out of the pressure transducer lines. Only water in the Pitot Static line, other four lines had no water.

October 5, 2010

  • Performed a pressure check on the 6 lines and all looked good except the pitot would not hold a vacuum. Found leak and sealed, all looked good.

October 15, 2010

  • Tested the anti-ice on the gust probe to verify it's working.
