Network Connection

  • IP Address: 192.168.0.140.0
  • Subnet: 255.255.255.0
  • Gateway: 192.168.0.1
  • Connect to Network Router and attach laptop to network that uses a different address.
  • VNC password is: g1
  • Connect with the CSI test cable:
    1. Plug network cable directly to the laptop.
    2. Connect an Ethernet crossover plug to the test cable prior to connecting to the network hub.
  • Citation Network
    • Make sure the “Uplink” port is disconnected on the network box (CSI will not connect to the network if that port has a cable in it)

RS-422 Connection

  • Used to output data to another computer and to remotely control the CSI flows.
  • Communication is as 9600 baud 8, N, 1, with no flow control.
  • Data will only be sent when the unit is operating under flight conditions.
  • Data will be sent a 1 Hz intervals.

Laptop connection to CSI Computer

  • Used for data download from CSI computer.
  • Need:
    • “remote” computer (e.g. laptop)
    • crossover network cable
  • Notes:
    • These instructions are from the CSI manual. They haven't been tested yet as of 19 Feb. 2014.
    • The manual states the remote computer should be running Windows 2000 or XP.
  1. Remove the cover plate from the left side of CSI dome.
  2. Connect the monitor crossover cable between the impactor and the remote computer. Power up the remote computer.
  3. Power up the impactor.
  4. On the remote computer, click on Start, right click on My Network Places, click on Search for Computers, enter 10.10.10.10 and hit Search. The system should find the impactor directory C.
  5. Double click on C, and the directory listing of the impactor will appear. Go to the data directories and copy over the data as needed. It is recommended that the data be deleted from the impactor computer after it has been archived at another location.
