NOTES

June 2010 - After several attempts at upgrading the OS and software on the entire system, it was determined that the RVP8 can not function with RHEL version greater than 5.0 (currently installed). Also, it was determined that the IRIS/RDA version can not exceed 8.11.0 (currently installed). There were several attempts at getting IRIS/RDA 8.12.5 to work, but it only uncovered a bug in SIGMETS design that prohibits those versions from working on our system. This is because UND's RVP8 was designed with two IFDs and two computer RX boards (one to each IFD). This design was discontinued shortly after installation and all Sigmet software is based on a RVP8 configuration with one IFD and one RX board. The only way to upgrade OS and/or software is to upgrade the RVP8. This could include getting a new (or refurbished) RVP8 or just getting a new IFD and RX board (~$16,000).
